Your service name & description

For each new service you create on Servable, you’ll need to decide on a name and write a description.

Who will see the service name and description?

The name and description will be seen by anyone you invite to join your service. If you decide to make your service public, then the name and description will be seen by anyone who discovers your service through search or social connections.

Recommendations for naming

Choosing the right name depends on which type of service you’re setting up.

If it’s a service provided for you, ensure the name makes sense to the service providers you’ll be inviting to join. For example, if I’m setting up a babysitting service for my family (last name Smith), I’ll name it something like Babysitting for the Smith Family.

If you’re setting up a service provided by you, ensure the name makes sense to the users you’ll be inviting to join. For example, if I’m setting up a graphic design service I provide to my professional connections, I’ll name it something like Expert Graphic Design.

And last, if you’re setting up a service marketplace, ensure the name makes sense to both the users and service providers. For example, if I’m setting up a service marketplace for pet sitters in my town, I’ll name it something like Springfield Certified Pet Sitters.

Recommendations for service description

Generally, we recommend keeping your service description short and simple. This is the place to provide that small amount of additional detail your users or service providers will need to understand the service’s purpose. Here are a few examples, based on the sample service names above:

  • Babysitting for the Smith Family: Weekday and weekend babysitting opportunities with our three kids (and friendly dog!)

  • Expert Graphic Design: Award-winning graphic design by John Smith. 16 years of experience in website design, marketing materials, illustration and more.

  • Springfield Certified Pet Sitters: The best pet sitters in Springfield, on demand any time you need us! Walks, companionship, bathing/grooming, and overnight pet sitting.
